Submission Guidelines

General Guidelines

Submissions are read from August 1st through November 30th. We accept poetry, fiction, and photography. Any unsolicited material that is not accompanied by a self-addressed envelope and the appropriate return postage will not be returned to the sender.  We do not accept online submissions.  The Alembic accepts no responsibility for unsolicited materials.  All unsolicited material that is not returned to the sender will be disposed of after three months. We encourage potential contributors to become familiar with the journal. The subscription rate in the United States is $25 for two years and sample copies are available for $15. Please send your check to the address listed below.

The Finer Details

Poetry submissions may include up to 5 poems. Fiction submissions should not exceed 6,000 words. We accept short stories, drama, and self-contained excerpts of novels. Photography submissions must be in a digital format with 300dpi resolution. Simultaneous submissions are permitted. If your work is accepted for publication elsewhere, please contact the editors immediately. Materials published in The Alembic may not be reprinted, in whole or part, without written permission from the editors.
