Jane Lunin Perel Poetry and Fiction Series featured Carolyn Forché
Providence College welcomed Carolyn Forché to campus on Wednesday, October 27, 2021 for the fifth reading of the Jane Lunin Perel Poetry and Fiction Series. Forché is an award-winning poet and human rights advocate who has been a finalist for both the National Book Award and Pulitzer Prize in poetry. She is renowned as a “poet of witness” in contributing works that bear witness to war, imprisonment, torture, and enslavement.
Her international anthology, Against Forgetting, was praised by Nelson Mandela as “itself a blow against tyranny, against prejudice, against injustice.” She is currently the Lannan Visiting Professor of Poetry and Professor of English at Georgetown University.
